At the heart of Thunder Hoof Pottery is Suzanne’s love of nature and animals. With deep influences from life in the Colorado mountains, the desert southwest, and the lush Louisiana landscape, every creation draws from diverse natural inspirations.
Similarly, we love to learn about each student’s experiences and inspirations to make their creation significant to their life’s journey. From a unique experience to a blossoming passion for earthen art, we are here to supoprt you all the way.

Thunder Hoof Pottery. Where did THAT name come from?
Thunder Hoof is a term of endearment to describe running draft horses. A Draft horse is a large horse breed that is bred for heavy work like plowing or carriage pulling. The category includes Clydesdales, Belgians, Percheron, Friesian, and Shire to name just a few. Suzanne has held a life-long love of these gentle, giant horses.
While living in Colorado, Suzanne had the opportunity to start a horse rescue dedicate in large part to neglected, abused, and unwanted draft horses that were otherwise headed to slaughter. Suzanne immediately branded her pottery as ‘Thunder Hoof’ and dedicated a significant portion of her proceeds to the rescue’s efforts along with using her pottery to raise awareness of the deplorable treatment of these gentle giants.
Although no longer running a horse rescue, the love of horses continues to be a major part of Thunder Hoof Pottery.
