Children to adults, beginners to experienced, we are ready to help you learn the language of clay. Our classes turn beginners into makers!
Hand building is a foundational pottery technique where you shape clay entirely by hand—without a pottery wheel—using simple methods like pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Students learn to form functional pieces such as bowls, mugs, and small sculptures by pressing, rolling, and joining soft clay, developing essential skills in clay handling, texture, and form while discovering the creative freedom of working directly with the material.
Wheel throwing is a core pottery skill where you center and shape clay on a spinning potter’s wheel to create balanced, symmetrical forms. Students practice essential techniques such as centering the clay, opening the form, and pulling up the walls to make functional pieces like cups, bowls, and cylinders, while building coordination, control, and an understanding of how centrifugal force and hand pressure work together to transform a lump of clay into refined pottery.
Looking for a group activity? Teambuilding? Something fun to do as a family? A unique date night? We are happy to host groups to explore the creativity and fun of pottery, and we will work with you to design a session that fits your needs.
